Outputting to another RIP (Versaworks/Rasterlink/Onyx)

If you have a different RIP that you are happy with and wish to use Flexi just for the design capabilities, Flexi can output directly to those RIPs. This includes:

  • Roland VersaWorks 5, 6, and Dual
  • Mimaki RasterLink 6 and 7
  • Onyx

These options can be found here on the Standard Toolbar:

Adding RIP Options to the Toolbar

If you do not see your favored RIP on the toolbar, first close flexi, then go to this folder:

Flexi 22: C:\Program Files\SAi\SAi Production Suite 22\Program
Flexi 21:
C:\Program Files\SAi\SAi Production Suite 21\Program
Flexi 19: C:\Program Files(x86)\SAi\SAi Production Suite 19\Program

In this folder, look for these files:

Double click the file that corresponds with the RIP that you wish to use. Only use the one with 64-bits in the name. Onyx should already exist in Flexi.

  • Add RSL 64-bits: RasterLink
  • Add RVW 64bit: Roland VersaWorks
  • Add RVW Dual 64bit: Roland VersaWorks Dual

Next, go up one level in your folder directory to SAi Production Suite 19/21/22, and find the Install Manager and open it. Click OK. It will process for a moment and then close.

Open Flexi and look at the Standard Toolbar for your RIP icon to show.

Setting Up your RIP

When setting up your RIP, the first thing to do is point the file path to the correct directory. A list of default directories can be found below.

VersaWorks mceclip2.png and VersaWorks Dual mceclip3.png have the same setup screen.

mceclip4.png

File Name Name of the File that will show in VersaWorks
Include Contour Cut Paths If you have a contour cut in the design, this will send it to VersaWorks as a path to be cut instead of a line to be printed.
Selection Only Sends only what is selected in the design workspace to VersaWorks
Always Send as EPS Sends the file as a .eps file. It is recommended that this is turned on.
Printer

Select the printer you wish to send to. You can choose which queue will receive the job in the dropdown to the right of it.

Note: If this dropdown has "First Printer" in it and you don't see your printers listed in it, check and make sure you have the correct VersaWorks Path below.

VersaWorks Path The file that that the Send to VersaWorks utility will send the jobs through. If this is not correctly set, this function will not work.

Typically, these are the correct file paths. It largely depends on which version of VersaWorks you have and where you installed it (if you chose some place other than the default directory.) Try each of these:

  • C:\ProgramData\Roland DG VersaWorks
  • C:\Program Files\VersaWorks

If these do not work, contact Roland. Flexi knows where the correct hot folders are inside the file path, so you only need the root installation folder.

RasterLink 6 and 7mceclip4.png

Note: If this dropdown has "First Printer" in it and you don't see your printers listed in it, check and make sure you have the correct RasterLink Path below.

RasterLink 6 Check this if you are using RasterLink 6 or later
Selection only Sends only what is selected in the design workspace to RasterLink
Include Contour Cut Path If you have a contour cut in the design, this will send it to RasterLink as a path to be cut instead of a line to be printed.

Typically, this is the correct file path. It largely depends on which version of RasterLink you have and where you installed it (if you chose some place other than the default directory.) Try the following:

  • Rasterlink 6: C:\Mijsuite
  • Rasterlink 7: C:\Mijctrl

If this does not work, contact Mimaki. Flexi knows where the correct hot folders are inside the file path, so you only need the root installation folder.

Onyx mceclip5.png

mceclip6.png

File Name Name of the File that will show in Onyx
Onyx RIP Path The file that that the Send to Onyx RIP utility will send the jobs through. If this is not correctly set, this function will not work.
Printer

Select the printer you wish to send to. You can choose which queue will receive the job in the dropdown to the right of it.

Note: If this dropdown is blank has "First Printer" in it and you don't see your printers listed in it, check and make sure you have the correct Onyx RIP Path below.

Quick Set If you have quick set options set up in Onyx, they will show here.
Number of copies Determines how many copies of the drawing you want to send to the RIP.
Hold Output Will cause Onyx to hold the job in a queue instead of immediately sending it to the printer. You will need to send it from Onyx at that point.

Typically, this is the correct file path. It largely depends on which version of Onyx you have and where you installed it (if you chose some place other than the default directory.) Try the following:

  • C:\Onyx

If this does not work, contact Onyx. Flexi knows where the correct hot folders are inside the file path, so you only need the root installation folder.

  • C:\ProgramData\EPSON\Epson Edge Print

If this does not work, contact Epson. Flexi knows where the correct hot folders are inside the file path, so you only need the root installation folder.
